Microsoft confirmed on Monday that it will share an update on its Xbox business later this week, after weeks of reports and rumors that its first-party games would be coming to rival consoles. The Xbox parent company will reveal its plans for the platform during a special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast on February 15 at 12 PM (February 16 at 1:30 AM IST in India). Here we are joined by Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer, Xbox President Sarah Bond, and Xbox Game. Studio head Matt Booty will share details about the future Xbox roadmap. The confirmation comes after Spencer promised on Tuesday that Microsoft would share its vision for “the future of Xbox” next week.

Xbox’s business update will likely launch on competing platforms from Sony and Nintendo, following multiple reports about Xbox exclusive titles like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves. The list of first-party games that could be coming to PS5 also includes Bethesda RPG Starfield and the recently announced Indiana Jones title. A report from The Verge claimed that Xbox’s wave of exclusive games could be making its way to PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Microsoft has not confirmed this change in strategy, but its upcoming business update will likely reveal details about its plans to release its games outside of the Xbox ecosystem. Citing sources familiar with the company’s plans, The Verge reports that Microsoft is indeed preparing to announce exclusive games for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. According to the latest reports, Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment will be the first two games to be released on Sony and Nintendo consoles, with Sea of Thieves scheduled for release later this year. Other first-party titles on Xbox and PC are also being weighed for possible release on competing platforms, the report said.

Last week, Xbox head Spencer appeared to calm the Xbox community anxious over rumors of Xbox games coming to other platforms, but did not deny the reports. “We are listening and we are hearing you,” Spencer said in his X post on Tuesday. “We’ve been planning a business update event for next week and look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Please stay tuned.”

Xbox’s business plans will be detailed on Thursday’s Xbox Podcast, but if the announcement mirrors recent reports, it would mark an industry shift in Microsoft’s strategy. The company has reiterated its commitment to exclusive titles for the Xbox platform several times in the past, in addition to its focus on growing Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox’s change in direction for its first-party titles didn’t come without internal resistance. An XboxEra report from earlier this month that claimed Starfield could be making its way to PS5 revealed that the company’s senior executives had engaged in “intense” internal discussions on the matter, with all involved saying the Xbox game would be unlikely to release on PlayStation. Or Nintendo Switch.
