Instagram has a new feature to spice up your Valentine’s Day celebrations. There are two new features released on the Meta-owned social media platform, but they’re not easy to discover. These hidden features can only be triggered by specific actions inside your Android or iOS app. One of the features can be found in the notes section of your direct message (DM) page. A second hidden feature has been added to Instagram Stories.

The first feature is a floating or exploding heart animation that can be seen when using the note feature. Users who add Valentine’s Day-related keywords such as “Happy Valentine’s Day,” “Happy Vday,” or “Vday” to Notes will receive a DM message with hearts floating across the screen. You can get the same effect by tapping a note with Valentine’s Day-themed words on it.

The second feature is available in Stories. When adding a new story, you can choose a special @mention from the stickers section. The new mention is pink and has two hearts on either side of the mention. You can use this to tag others and then post a story, which will trigger a similar floating heart animation. Likewise, tapping on another user’s story that contains this mention will trigger the animation again.

Although the feature has been released and some users have reported using it, it is not yet available to everyone. According to the company, the feature will remain in the app until Thursday while it’s being introduced just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The Meta-owned platform has also recently been experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI)-based features. A recent report highlighted that Instagram is working on an AI messaging feature that will allow users to rewrite, rephrase, and change the style of messages they write in chat. The function itself is expected to be known as: Writing with AI, which appears to act like an editing tool. The full functionality of this feature is not yet known.
