In case of collective action in the medical field, emergency measures such as expansion of public medical institutions are implemented.

(Suwon = Larose.VIP) Reporter Kim Gyeong-tae = Amid the conflict between the government and the medical community over the expansion of medical school seats, Gyeonggi Province has begun responding by preparing emergency medical treatment measures in preparation for a medical gap that may occur in the future.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 15th that it has been operating an emergency medical response situation room since the 7th as the Ministry of Health and Welfare issued a health and medical disaster crisis ‘alert’ warning on the 6th.

Through this, the province is establishing a hotline that can respond quickly in the event of an emergency, monitoring the situation in the medical community, and identifying the status of emergency medical institutions.

If collective action in the medical community becomes a reality, the province plans to minimize medical gaps by expanding public medical institutions, while strengthening the operation of public hospital emergency rooms and intensive care units, and operating an emergency treatment system such as extending weekday treatment hours and providing night treatment. .

In addition, based on the Emergency Medical Services Act, we plan to establish an emergency medical cooperation system, such as utilizing the emergency rooms and intensive care units of private medical institutions designated as on-call medical institutions, to provide necessary medical services to residents, and to continue to provide assistance and guidance through the city and county websites.

Ryu Kwon-soo, head of the Gyeonggi Province Health and Medical Services Department, said, “We will thoroughly prepare for collective action in the medical community and do our best to minimize medical gaps that are directly related to the health and safety of the residents of the province.”

Previously, the Ministry of Health and Welfare ordered each city and province to establish emergency treatment measures, inspect the 24-hour emergency room operation system, determine the status of on-duty status at each emergency medical institution in the jurisdiction in advance, expand weekday treatment at public medical institutions, and prepare emergency treatment measures for weekends and public holidays at each institution.

In addition, measures such as establishing a patient transfer and transfer system in the event of collective action in the medical community, preventing essential medical gaps, taking action against institutions that fail to provide emergency treatment, and implementing emergency treatment measures at public medical institutions were also requested.
