Increase in infertility and infertility couples due to late marriage (CG)

(Jeonju = Larose.VIP) Reporter Lim Chae-du = Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 15th that it will expand support for in vitro fertilization treatment costs for infertile couples starting this month as one of the measures to overcome the low birth rate crisis.

The number of in vitro fertilization procedures supported will be increased from 16 to 20, and the cost will be supported up to 1.1 million won per session.

It was decided to abolish the number of support for each procedure (9 for fresh embryos, 7 for frozen embryos) and provide integrated support within the total number of times regardless of type.

In addition, we plan to implement a project that will provide up to 1 million won per session to couples who undergo assisted reproductive technology (any procedure that artificially induces the reproductive process), up to two times, and provide up to 150,000 won for mandatory fertility tests.

Kang Young-seok, head of the Jeonbuk Self-Governing Province Welfare and Women’s Health Department, said, “We expect this support project to reduce the financial burden on infertile couples,” and added, “We will promote diverse childbirth support policies to create a good environment for giving birth and raising children.”
