Cheongju St. Mary’s Hospital announced on the 16th that all 28 internal medicine, neurosurgery, and obstetrics and gynecology residents submitted their resignations on the 19th and notified the hospital that they would not work from the 20th.

Cheongju St. Mary’s Hospital is a designated training institution where Samsung Medical Center in Seoul dispatches residents, and Samsung Medical Center decides whether to accept the resignation.

A hospital official said, “We are holding an emergency medical committee meeting to discuss response policies, including deploying additional doctors to the emergency room,” and added, “The proportion of medical residents in the hospital is not high, so there will be no major disruption to essential medical care.”
