(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Kim Jan-di = The government expressed regret to a group of doctors who predicted collective action such as a struggle and requested that the problem be resolved through dialogue.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare made this announcement after holding the 10th meeting of the ‘Doctors’ Collective Action Central Accident Control Headquarters’ on the afternoon of the 18th to inspect the situation related to doctors’ collective action.

The Korean Medical Association (KMA) held an emergency response committee meeting the previous day to decide the timing of collective action through a vote by all members, and decided to begin the struggle by holding an emergency meeting of national representatives on the 25th.

After expressing regret over the Korean Medical Association’s announcement of collective action, the government requested that it come to the forum for dialogue so that future policies can be refined as it has prepared a ‘4 major essential medical policy package’ by actively reflecting the opinions of the medical community.

At the same time, he emphasized that if the medical community engages in illegal collective action, all legal and administrative measures will be taken to protect people’s lives and ensure safety.

Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Gyu-hong said, “I am very sorry that the Korean Medical Association has chosen a path of struggle, such as collective action,” and added, “We ask medical professionals to please protect the patients, and the government will keep the forum for dialogue open and wait.”

He continued, “It is not desirable to attack individual public officials in relation to policy decisions and execution. We hope that people will refrain from making excessive personal attacks and spreading malicious information without any basis. In case of recurrence, we will respond strongly at the ministry level.” revealed.
