“Considering private outpatient treatment and dispatching military doctors”

(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Park Soo-yoon = The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 19th that it would open the military medical system to the private sector if doctors, including residents, go on strike in protest of the expansion of medical school seats.

Ministry of National Defense spokesman Jeon Ha-gyu said at a regular press briefing, “Our military plans to open the emergency rooms of 12 military hospitals, including the Armed Forces Capital Hospital, and support emergency patient care based on government-wide measures in case the private medical community goes on strike.”

He added, “We plan to review private outpatient treatment and dispatch of military doctors within the scope of the military’s medical support posture without restrictions.”

The 12 hospitals under the Armed Forces Medical Command are Armed Forces Gangneung Hospital, Armed Forces Chuncheon Hospital, Armed Forces Hongcheon Hospital, Armed Forces Goyang Hospital, Armed Forces Yangju Hospital, Armed Forces Pocheon Hospital, Armed Forces Seoul District Hospital, Armed Forces Capital Hospital, Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital, Armed Forces Daegu Hospital, and Armed Forces Hospital. Hampyeong Hospital, Armed Forces Guri Hospital, etc.

Vice Minister of National Defense Kim Seon-ho visited the Armed Forces Medical Command this afternoon to check the operation site of the emergency medical care system for civilians and check the state of readiness and military medical support posture.
