Daejeon Eulji University Hospital

Daejeon Eulji University Hospital

(Daejeon = Larose.VIP) Reporter Park Joo-young = As residents continue to submit resignation letters in protest against the government’s policy to expand medical school seats, residents at Daejeon St. Mary’s Hospital and Eulji University Hospital also resigned en masse or expressed their intention to resign.

According to Daejeon St. Mary’s Hospital on the 19th, 44 residents, including all 21 interns and 23 residents (48 total), submitted resignation letters and have not been going to work since this morning.

All interns submitted their collective resignation on the 16th and returned to work within 6 hours.

As a result of an inspection by the training and education team, it was found that three interns were carrying out their duties normally, including treating patients and writing charts, even after submitting their resignation letters.

The chairman of the Daejeon Eulji Hospital Resident Council also decided to collect and submit resignation letters from residents to the hospital around noon that day.

The number of residents at this hospital, including interns and residents, reaches 95.

The Ministry of Education and Training is confirming this, but the scale of resignations has not yet been determined.

The hospital said, “Emergency departments such as emergency rooms, operating rooms, dialysis rooms, and trauma centers will respond by establishing emergency treatment measures. From the 20th, regular surgeries will be difficult and only emergency surgeries will likely have to be performed.”
