The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is collecting the product and testing its ingredients. If salmonella bacteria are detected in collected products, Costco Korea may be subject to administrative action equivalent to a 15-day business suspension.

An official from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said, “We obtained information through overseas hazard information from the U.S. and quickly recommended Costco Korea to voluntarily stop distribution and sales of the product in question. It will take about a week for the microbiological test results to come out.” .

He continued, “In accordance with Article 7, Paragraph 4 of the Food Sanitation Act, if food poisoning bacteria are detected in the product, an administrative measure of 15 days of business suspension may be imposed on Costco Korea, the importer.”
