(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Choi Jae-seo = “I went into this project thinking that it was a project that would pinpoint a certain milestone for people in their 30s.”

Singer IU introduced her mini album ‘The Winning’ like this in a 13-minute interview released on the official YouTube channel on the 19th.

For IU, who turned 30 last year, this new album is not only her first album in two years, but also her first album in her 30s.

He said, “(In my 30s), I felt a lot of comfort and convenience that I had never felt in my teens or 20s,” and “I am talking about something that is definitely different from the message I delivered in my 20s.”

He continued, “I thought something I had been working on for a long time was coming out,” and added, “It was a really good process because it wasn’t stressful or painful or anything like that.”

The keyword IU wanted to convey through this album was ‘victory.’ She is so amazing that she includes this keyword in all her songs, and to avoid confusing the subject, she chose ‘winning’ as the album name.

He said, “I have always been a person with a competitive spirit,” and “I thought my 30s was a time when my competitive spirit was rekindled.”

“I prepared (the album) with the thought, ‘I enjoy competing and winning is fun.’ Every day, I compete with the plans I made in the past, and I win every day.”

‘The Winning’, which will be released at 6 PM on the 20th, contains a total of 5 songs, including the double title songs ‘Shopper’ and ‘Hole’. IU was credited as the sole lyricist for all songs.

Among them, IU, who wanted to convey the message of ‘want confidently’ through ‘Shopper’, said, “We are living in an era where we increasingly have to hide our desires and desires,” and added, “I hope there will be an atmosphere in which people can talk about their desires naturally.”

He added, “I want to say that I should confidently desire even if I hear people say, ‘Isn’t that dream absurd? Do you seem greedy?’ I want to be like that myself.”

Regarding the song ‘Hole Seed’, IU said, “When I was young, I thought I would bloom like a flower,” and “But when I got into my 30s, I decided, ‘I’ll just live as a seed.’ It’s because I thought that not everyone can necessarily become a flower.” He told us about his work background.

The explanation is that he acknowledged his limitations and impossibility and began to focus on ‘how to live as a wonderful seed’ rather than blooming.

He explained, “In the end, it’s about what Mr. Hall dreams of, ‘The Winning’,” and “In the same vein as ‘Shopper,’ I want to tell you that there’s no need to reduce your desires just because you don’t think you’ll bloom brilliantly.” .

“I wanted to say ‘achieve your own victory’ to myself and the people I love, so this is an album I made with the utmost organicity.”
