(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Kim Cheol-seon = “The privilege of youth is to be able to look back on happy memories no matter how hard you go. Choose your dream and run for it. If you fall, get up. Don’t give up and work like crazy until the end. Then, you too can succeed.”

This is the advice that Celltrion Group Chairman Seo Jeong-jin, known as the ‘Salaryman Myth’, gave to young people at a youth debate hosted by former People Power Party lawmaker Na Kyung-won on the 20th. About 100 young entrepreneurs and college students attended the discussion held at the Seoul Campus of Chung-Ang University in Dongjak-gu.

Chairman Seo mentioned the adversity of starting Celltrion after the Daewoo Group was disbanded in the aftermath of the foreign exchange crisis in 1997 and left the company, saying, “I also come from a lowly background,” and “I even ate at a homeless restaurant in the United States.” was also introduced.

He did not hesitate to criticize the political world.

Pointing to the young people, he said, “These friends should not be used politically. We should not coax young people for votes,” and suggested, “Instead, support these friends and create yards and playgrounds where they can run around and play.”

He also said, “I hope we stop fighting quickly and move forward with the mindset of coming together as one.”

In relation to this, former lawmaker Na said, “The spirit of consensus is the most important thing in the National Assembly, but now the spirit of consensus has disappeared and politics has become extreme, with people unconditionally putting it to a vote and doing whatever they want if they have even one more seat. If I go back to the National Assembly, I want to do that.” said.

Former lawmaker Na also said, “What a politician must do is to create a better Republic of Korea for the next generation. Running a business has the same meaning,” adding, “We must provide a space where young people can play to their heart’s content, and help young people who have failed to rise again.” “It is the job of politicians to open the way,” he emphasized.

Chung-Ang University’s Seoul Campus, where the debate was held, is in the constituency where former lawmaker Na is running for a fifth term. It is somewhat unusual for a company head to participate in a debate with a politician 50 days before the general election.

Regarding this, Chairman Seo said, “I and a former lawmaker agreed to a debate while saying New Year’s greetings, but I forgot that it was the general election season. I am neither conservative nor progressive, but moderate. I am a pragmatist.”

He also said, “In fact, it is a taboo for businessmen to be photographed in public with politicians,” and added, “I received complaints asking why I would do this during election season, but I came out because it was a trend and because I am a politician I respect.”
