“If unauthorized collection is conducted in a non-permitted area, the person will be booked in accordance with relevant laws.”

The targets of the crackdown include hygiene and management conditions of sap collection hoses and water collection containers, compliance with sap sales container standards, compliance with sap collection holes, and post-management of sap collection numbers.

Unauthorized harvesting in places other than the concession area for Gorosoe harvesting will be booked in accordance with relevant laws.

Last year, the Northern Forest Service handed over 114,000 liters of gorosoe sap to 26 villages, including Gangwon, Gyeonggi, and Seoul, for free to local residents, generating an income of 340 million won.

This year, we plan to transfer about 109,000 liters to 22 villages.

Lee Yong-seok, head of the Northern Forest Service, said, “Through hygienic collection and systematic management of Gorosoe sap, we will not only provide safe food to the people, but also serve as a catalyst for overcoming the crisis of local extinction by generating income.”
