(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Tae-su Lee = Four K-pop idol groups, led by Seventeen, were included in the ‘Top 10’ of the world’s most loved singers last year.

According to the ‘2023 Global Artist Chart’ announced by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) on the 21st (local time), Seventeen ranked second after Taylor Swift, who took first place.

Additionally, Stray Kids ranked 3rd, Tomorrow by Together (TXT) ranked 7th, and New Jeans ranked 8th, showing the popularity of K-pop.

IFPI has more than 8,000 record labels from around the world as members, and annually releases a list of music industry trends. Among these, the ‘Global Artist Chart’ is ranked by adding up physical album sales, digital music downloads, and audio/video streaming figures. Accordingly, this ranking is accepted as an objective indicator that can measure the most popular singer that year.

Seventeen first entered this chart at 9th place in 2021, ranked 6th in 2022, and rose four places to 2nd place last year.

Last year, SEVENTEEN made hits with their tenth mini album ‘FML’ and their eleventh mini album ‘SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN’.

Stray Kids, Tomorrow by Together, and New Jeans also enjoyed popularity, each ranking first on the US Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ last year.

Among these, New Jeans’ second mini album ‘Get Up’ was recorded as the fifth best-selling physical album in the United States last year. This is the highest ranking for a K-pop female singer, and the highest ranking among all female singers, following first place Taylor Swift.

In the ‘Global Artist Chart’, Drake ranked 4th, The Weeknd ranked 5th, country sensation Morgan Wallen ranked 6th, Bad Bunny ranked 9th, and Lana Del Rey ranked 10th.
