PlayStation VR2 will support VR games on PC this year, Sony has announced. The company confirmed Wednesday that it is testing the ability for the PS VR2 to play PC VR games, in addition to titles already supported through the PS5. PS VR2 was launched in international markets in February 2023 and debuted in India in December. The virtual reality headset is currently only compatible with PS5 and does not support previous generations of PS VR content.

Sony has provided an update to the PlayStation Blog with details about the various PS VR2 titles coming to the platform. “We’re excited to share that we’re currently testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to give them an even greater variety of games beyond the PS VR2 titles available on PS5,” the blog says. It was revealed. “We hope to be able to provide this support in 2024. Stay tuned for further updates.” Added.

There’s no specific release date for PC VR game support yet, but as it gets closer, the currently limited library of PS VR2 games will expand. Other details related to PC support, such as compatibility, platforms, and performance, are yet to be confirmed. For example, will PS VR2 users be able to access and download PC VR games through compatibility with SteamVR? These details will become clearer over time. PS VR2 was released on February 22, 2023 and has over 40 titles available in its library. More games have been added throughout the year, including Resident Evil 4 VR.

PlayStation also announced the release of a new PS VR2 title, The Wizards – Dark Times: Brotherhood, an action-adventure spell-casting game that puts players in the shoes of a wizard, casting spells with hand gestures. VR games can be played solo in single-player mode or experienced in co-op with up to three players. The game is now out on the PlayStation Store for PS VR2 users.

The blog revealed release dates, DLC, and new announcements for other VR titles on the platform. Mighty Eyes’ time travel action VR title Wanderer: The Fragments of Fate has received a new gameplay trailer and release date. The game will be released on June 27th. Additionally, Purple Yonder’s city-building game Little Cities Bigger has been announced for PS VR2 and will be released on March 12th.

Zombie Army VR, a VR version of the popular Sniper Elite spinoff Zombie Army series, is also coming to PS VR2 this year. Meanwhile, Arizona Sunshine 2 has received a new free update that includes an in-game Corgi companion and three new Horde mode maps. The Corgi companion is available now and can be added as a sidekick through the newly added cosmetics screen. Three new multiplayer maps will be released each month starting in March.

Finally, the blog revealed new screenshots and details about the core mechanics of Thirdverse’s upcoming narrative action JRPG, Soul Covenant. The VR title is expected to be released around 2024.

Sony’s VR update follows the reveal of two VR titles for PS VR2, Metro Awakening and Legendary Tales, at last month’s State of Play showcase. Metro Awakening is a story-based first-person VR title in the Metro series, scheduled for release on PS VR2 this year. Meanwhile, Legendary Tales is a VR action RPG from Urban Wolf Games released on February 8th.
