(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Lee Dong-hwan = The President’s Office announced on the 25th that it plans to maintain the previously announced number of 2,000 students in relation to the increase in the number of students admitted to medical schools.

When asked at the Yongsan Presidential Office briefing on this day whether there is a possibility of lowering the existing number of 2,000 by coordinating with doctors, Sung Tae-yoon, head of the Presidential Office’s policy office, responded, “As for the current estimate of 2,000, we continue to consider it to be a necessary number.” .

Director Seong said that the number of 2,000 was determined based on various estimates, adding, “The original number of doctors needed was around 3,000, but the government is currently considering the number to be around 2,000 considering various requirements.”

He added, “There are about 17 medical schools in Korea that are small with less than 50 students, and in this case, the number of students needs to be increased for smooth operation.”
