SM Entertainment-Kakao Games game production contract signing ceremony

(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Kim Joo-hwan = Kakao Games[293490]announced on the 16th that it has signed an intellectual property (IP) copyright contract with SM Entertainment and will begin developing mobile games using its idol group.

In accordance with the agreement, Kakao Games unveiled for the first time the digital collection mobile game ‘SM Game Station (working title)’ featuring SM Entertainment’s idol artists.

‘SM Game Station’ is a game where users become managers of a K-pop group, perform scheduled activities reinterpreted as mini games, and collect digital photo cards.

It features a photo card containing the actual appearance and activities of SM Entertainment’s idols, and the card can be decorated with various ‘parts’ containing the characteristics of each member.

Additionally, there will be content linked to actual activities, including events celebrating anniversaries such as the artist’s birthday and debut date.

Kakao Games’ game and blockchain subsidiary Metabora is responsible for game development, and SM Entertainment is responsible for providing IP for its group.

‘Game Station’ is aiming to launch in the global market in the second half of this year.

Han Sang-woo, CEO of Kakao Games, said, “We plan to provide a new entertainment experience in the global digital content market by combining Kakao Games’ service and development capabilities with SM Entertainment’s strong content power.”

SM Entertainment CEO Jang Cheol-hyuk said, “We are pleased to be able to provide our fans with opportunities to consume a variety of content, and Kakao[035720] “We will try more content mixes within the group in the future,” he said.
