(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Kim Ki-hoon = 80 teams will compete for the top spot in the ‘2024 Han River Spank Competition’ held at Jamsu Bridge in Banpo Hangang Park at 4 p.m. this Sunday, the 12th.

Seoul City announced on the 9th that in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the competition, a total of 80 teams, 10 more than originally planned, were selected to participate.

The city explained that after reviewing the application story, this decision was made because the enthusiasm for participation was higher than in any other competition.

As a result of recruiting participants for the idling contest from the 26th to the 29th of last month, a total of 2,787 teams applied, and the competition rate reached 35 to 1.

Looking at the gender of the participants, there were slightly more men (43) than women (37).

By age group, those in their 20s accounted for the largest group at 40% (32 people). This was followed by people in their 30s (29 people), people in their 40s to 50s (13 people), elementary, middle, and high school students (4 people), and people in their 60s or older (2 people). Four foreigners also participate.

The city added that it focused on reviewing application stories, but made sure that a variety of occupations and age groups were included.

This year, participants from various occupations include data linguists, psychiatrists, short track and boxers, firefighters, aviation mechanics, and N-jobbers.

The city reported that most participants’ stories contained a desire to recover from their tired and exhausted bodies and minds through the daze contest and to return to their daily lives.

The winner of the competition is selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of the ‘heart rate graph’ and ‘on-site citizen voting’.

The armband-type heart rate monitor worn by participants is checked every 15 minutes and scores are given based on the heart rate graph. Citizens can also read the stories of the participants on site and vote for the team they want to support.

After the Han River Spank Competition, a yoga class will be held from 6:30 PM with the beautiful sunset of the Han River and the Moonlight Rainbow Fountain in the background. Up to 20 people can participate on a first-come, first-served basis through on-site registration starting at 5 p.m.
