Acting as a person who spies on other people’s private lives… “Even though I don’t like it, I’m not afraid because it’s acting.”

(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Youngjae Lee = Modern people observe countless others on social networking services (SNS), but no one truly understands them.

It’s similar to having miscellaneous information about all kinds of issues, but not having insight into the essence.

Such is the case with Jeong-tae (played by Byun Yo-han), the protagonist of director Kim Se-hwi’s thriller ‘She’s Dead’, which will be released on the 15th.

Jeong Tae, a licensed real estate agent, has a pathological habit of secretly entering the homes of customers who have entrusted him with the keys while they are out, and spying on their private lives. Jeong-tae, who is busy observing others, is unable to form human relationships such as friendship and love.

The story unfolds as Jeong-tae gets to know So-ra (Shin Hye-seon), an influencer who constantly shows herself to others.

Actor Byun Yo-han, whom we met at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul on the 9th, said about the character Jeong-tae, “There is an aspect of being in contact with a world that is changing very quickly.”

Regarding Jeong-tae’s obsession with spying on others and finding out various information, he said, “It’s because I have a complex of wanting to be superior to others.”

Jeongtae also has a perverted habit of collecting pictures of things he sees in other people’s homes. Regarding taking on the role of Jeong-tae, Byun Yo-han calmly said, “She may seem unlikable or abnormal, but since she is an actress, I have no fear of such things.”

Although Jeong-tae is a pathological character, he is not all dark. The absurd narcissism expressed through his light and comical actions and narration sometimes brings laughter.

“‘She’s Dead’ is a movie that is both light-hearted and makes you laugh. It’s heavy yet light. I think that’s what sets it apart (from typical thrillers).”

Byun Yo-han filmed ‘She Is Dead’ right after filming ‘Hansan: Appearance of the Dragon’ (2022) directed by Kim Han-min. In ‘Hansan’, he played the role of Wakizaka, a Japanese general who is an enemy of the Joseon navy led by Yi Sun-sin.

He, who had bulked up to play Wakizaka, considered losing a lot of weight while preparing for the filming of ‘She is Dead’, but he said that he did not lose much weight as the production team judged that a somewhat bulky character would suit Jeong-tae rather than a slim figure. .

Sora, played by Shin Hye-sun, is also a pathological character. She is also a person with a dual personality who lives in complete contrast to the image she shows on her SNS. Byun Yo-han laughed about Jeong-tae and So-ra, saying, “Yu Yu-sangjong, Yongho Sangbak.”

He highly praised Shin Hye-sun, saying, “She is a very professional actress and works extremely hard,” and “She is delicate, but has strong strength inside.”

‘She’s Dead’ is director Kim’s debut film. Byun Yo-han said of Director Kim, “He had a strong concentration that controlled him without being distracted by any chaos that came his way,” and added, “I always feel good when I see a talented new director emerge.”

The 15th, when ‘She’s Dead’ is released, is also the day when the Disney+ original series ‘Uncle Samsik’ starring Byun Yo-han is released.

In this drama set in Korea in the 1950s and 1960s, Byun Yo-han plays the role of an elite young man who dreams of a country where everyone eats well and lives well, and he worked with Song Kang-ho.

Byun Yo-han said, “I’m so happy and grateful that the movie and drama he starred in meet audiences at the same time.”

Byun Yo-han, who is 38 years old this year, said there is still a lot he does not know about acting and is still in the stage of studying. “I think there is,” he said.
