MAN UTD signs replacement contract with Ideal Casemi

Manchester United The summer will bring big changes, with news breaking that Erik Ten Hag will be sacked as manager and several players expected to follow him for the exit.

One of the areas Sir Jim Ratcliffe has decided to strengthen is the midfield, with the Ineos boss determined to bring in stars past their prime and on big contracts. Casemiro and Christian Eriksen are two examples.

There will be a big void in the Red Devils’ squad that will need to be filled, with Sofian Amrabat also set to return to Fiorentina after spending time on loan there.

One of the midfield targets Manchester United have been eyeing for a long time is Monaco star Yusuf Fofana. He has also been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks.

The France international can play as a defensive, central or right midfielder and his versatility is said to be one of Ratcliffe’s favourites.

Manchester United attempted to sign Fofana on a loan-buy deal last summer, but their bid was quickly rejected.

Fofana has scored four goals and provided four assists in 35 appearances for Monaco this season and while the French club would ideally like to keep him, the 25-year-old is ready for a new challenge elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano advised Manchester United to complete a bargain deal.

Despite Fofana’s importance Monaco There appears to be acceptance within the club that he will leave this summer amid interest from the Premier League.

Monaco coach Thiago Scuro said Fofana would ‘probably’ be sold if the ‘right offer’ came forward, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

“He is probably one of the players we will sell this summer,” Scuro said in a recent interview.

“We will see the opportunities he has as well with Guillermo Maripan,” he added.

Romano told Caught Offside that Man Utd could sign Fofana for as little as €20m (around £17m). This should be considered a big discount.

That’s because the midfielder is only under contract until 2025 and appears to have no intention of signing an extension with Monaco.

Reportedly, it will be interesting to see whether Ratcliffe approves a concrete offer for Fofana in the coming weeks.
