The Adobe Express mobile app with Firefly AI is now available to everyone worldwide. The artificial intelligence (AI)-based photo and video editing mobile platform was first released in March. At the time, the company released the app in beta so that users could test its features. After being in beta for over a month, it is now available for free to all Android and iOS users. The app comes with a premium tier for those who want to use exclusive features.
The move was announced through a post in Adobe’s newsroom. “Adobe Express brings the magic of Firefly-generated AI directly to the web and mobile content creation experience,” said Govind Balakrishnan, senior vice president of Adobe Express and Digital Media Services at Adobe, when launching the mobile app. Adobe Express targets businesses and digital content creators who post to TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, and other social platforms.
Notably, Adobe Express is not a new initiative from the company. We’ve been experimenting with cloud-based mobile content creation platforms since 2015. The new app now brings Adobe’s internal Firefly AI capabilities to Android and iOS platforms. Users are also given the option to co-edit, review, and comment on apps to create a collaborative environment. Mobile and desktop users can also collaborate on the same project, adding cross-platform collaboration.
Adobe Express Features
The AI-based app allows users to get a variety of video-centric features. Users can combine video clips, images, and music to create one video. You have the option to add animations, create real-time customizable captions in over 100 languages, add video timelines, layer timing, and more. The app also supports 4K video.
On the images front, users can use the Firefly text-to-image generator to generate photos, as well as use Create Fill to add, remove, or replace people, objects, and more with simple text prompts. The app also allows users to create editable templates containing text prompts. To ensure that content created and edited through AI tools is safe for commercial use, Firefly AI follows the guidelines of the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA), an open source technology for labeling AI-generated content.
There are some features that are not available to users who access the free version of the app. Adobe has added a premium tier with a monthly membership price of Rs. 480. Membership provides access to Firefly AI-related features, including resizing and deleting, premium templates, licensed Adobe fonts, 100GB of cloud storage, and access to Adobe Photoshop Express. Currently, the company is also offering a two-week free trial for its membership.
