There is no extension of ChatGPT integration to the entire lineup of audio devices and all earphones released under the CMF brand. The London-based smartphone brand last month launched the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A, the brand’s first wireless earphones that natively integrate OpenAI’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. Users can launch the chatbot simply by pinching the stem of the device. Now, this feature is being extended to all earphones by brand.

The announcement came from Nothing’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, which also mentioned a list of earphones that will have this feature. Depending on the company, ChatGPT integration is also available for Ear 1, Ear Stick, Ear 2, CMF Buds, CMF Neckband Pro, and CMF Buds Pro. Interestingly, the list also includes the Ear 1, the company’s first wireless earphones.

However, if users want to access ChatGPT directly through earphones, there are some caveats. First, there is a double opt-in process. Carl Pei, Nothing’s co-founder and CEO, explained in a separate post that users must first download the ChatGPT app on their smartphones and then configure triggers to activate the chatbot through the Nothing Additionally, the integration only works if the earphones are paired with Nothing’s smartphone. However, if these conditions are met, users can easily access AI models without their mobile phones.

ChatGPT integration allows users to ask the chatbot verbal questions and receive responses directly through the earphones. This integration is expected to improve further as OpenAI releases the GPT-4o model, which provides real-time verbal dialogue and emotional voiceover. Real-time video processing also allows users to show the chatbot something and receive an immediate response. These features are being slowly rolled out by AI companies.

The list doesn’t include the Nothing Ear and Ear A earphones, but they already feature ChatGPT integration. Released in April, the earphones are equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers, support up to 45dB ANC and feature a transparency mode. Both earphones not only feature in-ear detection but also accept Google Fast pair and Microsoft Swift pair.
