Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign Arne Slott as a new winger this summer, Chelsea are interested in the Borussia Dortmund star and Monday’s Euro Paper Talk includes the striker giving big hints about joining Arsenal or Manchester United became.

Liverpool in pursuit of key winger

Liverpool’s new manager Arne Slott could be inheriting a new weapon at Anfield as the club are reportedly speeding up their pursuit of Juventus’ Federico Chiesa.

Now that Jurgen Klopp has managed his final game for Liverpool, attention will soon turn to the club’s next chapter. If Slot is to help Liverpool continue their fantastic success under Klopp, he will need to be backed up by some outstanding signings.

One of the players Klopp failed to bring to Anfield is Chiesa. This is despite the German’s great respect for Chiesa and much speculation about a possible transfer.

However, it is looking increasingly likely that the electric winger will arrive on Merseyside this summer. Last April, it was revealed that Liverpool were frontrunners to sign Chiesa.

The 26-year-old is in contract talks with Juve as his current contract expires in June 2025, but no new contract has yet been agreed.

According to a new report out of Italy, the contract issue is a major concern for Liverpool and the Reds have now ‘stepped up’ their pursuit of Chiesa.

Liverpool executives sent a scout to watch the striker in action during Juve’s Coppa Italia win over Atalanta on Wednesday.

And Liverpool CEO Michael Edwards is expected to begin talks with Juve about a potential deal in the near future.

Will the Reds finally sign Federico Chiesa?

Juve have tentatively set Chiesa’s price tag at an ambitious €60m (£51m), but are well aware that his contract situation weakens their negotiating position.

If Edwards enters discussions with the Juve team, he will likely try to lower his asking price and potentially get a deal done for around £40m.

Chiesa primarily plays as a left winger, but can also play on the right or as a centre-forward, so he could strengthen a number of different positions for Liverpool.

Considering Chiesa is a European champion with Italy and a two-time Coppa Italia winner with Juve, his arrival would herald Liverpool’s summer signings.

But Chiesa may not be the first player to sign with Slot’s team in the summer. It has been revealed that Liverpool will be the first to secure a new centre-back, with possible options being Goncalo Inacio, Odilon Cosuno and Willian Pacho.
