According to the report, Android 15 is expected to offer a more immersive spatial audio experience. It is speculated that Google may offer Dynamic Spatial Audio over Bluetooth Low Energy (LE). Additionally, this technology reportedly reduces head tracking latency, increases bandwidth utilization, and improves battery life. This development comes just days after it was revealed that Android 15 could increase standby battery life on devices by up to three hours.

Android 15 delivers more immersive spatial audio

According to an Android Authority report, tipster Mishaal Rahman suggested that the next major Android update could utilize Bluetooth LE audio technology to improve the device’s spatial audio experience. Currently, Android does not support Dynamic Spatial Audio using this.

The report suggests that Dynamic Spatial Audio requires the headset to have head tracking sensors and the smartphone to be configured to use low-latency Bluetooth. However, this is reported to be a power-hungry feature that could potentially impact overall battery life.

According to Rahman, Google announced at its annual developer conference that its Android 15 update will support Bluetooth LE audio, which will be used to improve spatial audio experiences on smartphones.

Instead of transmitting audio over Bluetooth Classic Audio, Bluetooth LE “offers lower head tracking latency and better bandwidth utilization for a more immersive experience,” according to Karthic Veera, Android Media and Camera Product Manager.

Android 15 Beta 2 Features

At Google I/O, the company also announced the Android 15 beta 2 update, which has since been released for select smartphones. It offers a new security and privacy-focused feature called Private Space, which allows users to hide apps in a secure location on their phone.

The Android 15 beta 2 update also brings several security features, including a theft detection lock feature that can lock the smartphone if it detects “sudden movements that may indicate theft.” It has also introduced another feature called Offline Device Lock, which allows users to automatically lock their smartphone when they turn off the internet.
