Manchester United target to sign Samuel Ealing-Junior from Juventus
Manchester United have requested a deal for Samuel Ealing-Junior after opening talks with Juventus to sign Mason Greenwood, but are likely to miss out on two other targets, according to reports.
Greenwood spent the 2023/24 season on loan at La Liga side Getafe, where he worked hard to make up for lost time after a difficult spell off the pitch, which ultimately led to the serious criminal charges against him being dropped.
With the 22-year-old’s United contract set to expire in the summer of 2025, discussions have already taken place over his future, and TEAMtalk understands selling the Manchester United academy product permanently is now the most likely option.
He was initially linked with high-profile moves to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but despite early interest, neither move developed.
However, both Fenerbahce and Juventus, currently managed by Jose Mourinho, have emerged as strong contenders for his signature.
As a result, with a move to Turkey ruled out, Greenwood has now been given the green light to move to Italy with preliminary talks on a deal taking place.
However, reports in Italy claim that Manchester United have asked Juventus to exchange England winger Ealing-Junior directly, rather than sell him directly.
The winger, born in Islington, London, will move to Turin in 2020 after leaving the Chelsea academy.
He went on to make 45 appearances for the Bianconeri and signed a contract there until 2025.
United, who value Greenwood at around €40m (£33.8m) according to reports, are open to the idea of bringing in the 20-year-old for around €15m. Juventus are currently mulling over the offer, but insist it is an offer they can accept and the proposed transfer could be approved soon.

United missed two other targets, including Joao Palhinha
Meanwhile, United will reportedly miss out on two other targets this summer due to new developments.
Firstly, the Red Devils have been touted as potential suitors for Joao Palhinha following claims Fulham rejected Bayern Munich’s opening bid worth €35 million.
And there have been hints that United are prepared to attempt a move of their own, with the Bundesliga giants reportedly valuing the Portuguese star at double that amount.
However, Fabrizio Romano was quick to deny such a move could occur in his Daily Briefing column. But for now, United are still waiting to resolve the managerial situation before attacking any positions for the market.
“Of course United are still monitoring the market, but they will not proceed with any negotiations until they know who will be their coach. So, with Palhinha currently out of talks with Manchester United, we’ll have to wait and see what happens to Erik ten Hag or if they decide to look for a replacement.
“Palhinha has also been linked with Barca, but due to their current Financial Fair Play situation they cannot afford to spend €40-50 million on a Fulham midfielder. So there is interest, but according to the specific story, Bayern Munich has reached an agreement with Palhinha on wages and a project contract, and Palhinha wants to go to Bayern.
“Bayern now have to agree a transfer fee with Fulham and they will be working hard this week to reach an agreement as quickly as possible. Fulham are clearly playing their game, but with Bayern working hard on a Palhinha deal and new manager Vincent Kompany giving the board the green light, the moment a hijacking isn’t expected, there’s someone on Bayern’s board who can make it happen . . “Negotiations with Fulham will continue, so let’s follow it step by step,” he said.
United are also set to miss out on long-term target Jeremy Frimpong after Barcelona signed him from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Dutchman could leave BayArena for as little as €40m (£34m). New manager Hansi Flick is keen to unleash this sum on the right-back, who has been a problem at the Nou Camp for several seasons now.
Barca’s deal prospects have been helped by the fact that the Bundesliga champions have expressed interest in bringing in unwanted winger Ansu Fati as part of a deal.
