Liverpool are prepared to pay a huge price to sign the Real Madrid star in a move that will have a huge knock-on effect for Erling Haaland and Mo Salah, while Arsenal have made a move to sign a quality new goalkeeper, Manchester United I asked about the outstanding German striker.

Dream of signing Rodrigo from Liverpool

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is hoping to make a statement at Anfield this summer, with the Dutchman reportedly giving the green light to a club-record raid on Real Madrid for Rodrygo.

The 45-year-old was chosen by Michael Edwards as the man to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield and knows he faces a tough task in matching his predecessor’s achievements at Liverpool.

Nonetheless, Slot has money at his disposal this summer and fantastic reports from Spain claim he is targeting a British record raid at Real for Rodrigo.

The Brazilian has proven a stellar signing for Los Blancos since his €45 million move from Santos in the summer of 2018, scoring 54 goals and adding 33 assists in 216 appearances for the current European champions.

But the summer signing of Kylian Mbappe has thrown Rodrigo’s future at the Bernabeu into doubt in the summer, despite Carlo Ancelotti making it clear he wants to keep the 23-year-old at the club.

But ambitious Real president Florentino Perez still dreams of pairing Mbappe with Manchester City frontmen Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior to create one of the most powerful attacking lines of all time.

As a result, it is claimed that Perez is pushing ahead with ambitious plans to sell Rodrigo to the highest bidder and move for Haaland, who has a €150 million exit clause in his City contract.

Liverpool have already rejected Real’s offer of €120m (£101.5m) for Rodrigo, according to reports. But it is claimed that Perez is willing to do the business for €150m (£126.4m), a record fee for the UK.

And while that is a tough price to pay, Slot is said to have given Liverpool the green light to meet that price and press ahead with the deal, knowing that a standout signing could start a bright new era at Anfield.

Furthermore, Rodrygo’s capture has left Liverpool free to sign Mo Salah, with the Egyptian star still wanted in Saudi Arabia and heading into the final 12 months of his Anfield deal.

The £100m sale of the talismanic star would go a long way towards signing Rodrigo from Real Madrid.
