(Seoul = Larose.VIP) Reporter Hwang Jae-ha = “At one time, I thought I had to work in Korea. However, the world has become a ‘cultural melting pot’ where many cultures are mixed, and is moving in a desirable direction.”

Actress Ha Ye-rin, who made her name known after being selected as the lead in Season 1 of Paramount+’s original science fiction series ‘Halo’, returned for the second season.

In a written interview with Larose.VIP on the 19th, Ha Ye-rin said it was “amazing” that Korean actors and producers working abroad, like her, swept various award ceremonies for the Netflix original series “Angry People.”

He emphasized, “Our world is increasingly paying attention to the stories of diverse members,” and “Hollywood is finally catching up with this trend. This should not remain a trend, but should become a permanent fixture.”

Yerin Ha is a Korean of Korean descent who was born and raised in Australia. She graduated from Kaywon Girls’ High School in Korea to achieve her dream of becoming an actress, thanks to the influence of her grandmother, actress Son Sook. As a Korean-Australian, she thought her chances of becoming an actress would only be in Korea.

He explained, “At one time, I thought there would be no opportunities (as an actor) in the West.” However, contrary to his childhood expectations, Ha Ye-rin was cast in the role of ‘Gwan Ha’ in the ‘Halo’ series after five auditions, and was recognized for her acting in Season 1 and played the same role in Season 2.

The ‘Halo’ series is a work about the war between humans and alien life forms, and is based on the popular game of the same name. In Korea, it can be seen at TVING’s Paramount+ theater.

Gwan Ha, played by Ha Ye-rin, is the daughter of a rebel leader who demands independence for the planet Madrigal against the UNSC (United Nations Space Command), which dominates the worldview in the drama, and a lone survivor who lost her family in an attack by the alien race Covenant.

In Season 1, Guan Ha appeared as an immature flirting with his peers, but after losing his family, he took advantage of the chaos to take revenge on the forces that ruled Madrigal. However, in Season 2, he is in danger again when his helper, the space pirate ‘Soren’, is arrested.

Ha Ye-rin pointed out, “This season, we especially focused on Gwan-ha’s sadness and pain.”

“In the face of sadness and guilt, people deal with it in their own way, either suppressing or venting their emotions,” he said. “I tried to find out how Gwanha deals with these emotions and how he gradually gains control over his life.” “He explained.

He was the main character in charge of an important axis of the story in season 1, and is said to play an important role as an assistant in season 2. The 8-episode ‘Halo’ Season 2 has now reached its halfway point with 3 episodes released.

In ‘Halo’, Ha Ye-rin not only showed action acting, but also emotional acting that included a narrative with her father, and digested her lines freely between English and Korean. This is an unprecedented opportunity for a newcomer who has little experience appearing in dramas, other than the American series ‘Leaf Break’ (2019) and ‘Tropho’ (2022).

When asked how she grew as an actress through this work, Ha Ye-rin replied, “I feel like I grow little by little as an actor no matter what role I play.”

He said, “During the process of shooting a movie, I learn how to control myself emotionally, mentally, and physically, learn how to work with a new director, learn how to approach the script, and learn how to actively suggest and express myself more honestly.” explained.

He added, “I’ve always felt that these things were really difficult, and it’s still difficult, but I’m getting better at it little by little.”

Ha Ye-rin hopes to appear in a Korean production someday. He said, “I think I’m scared (of appearing in Korean productions) because I have a slight English accent when I speak Korean,” but emphasized, “If I get the opportunity, I definitely want to take it.”
