Country singer-songwriter Raylene also appeared on Fox News and criticized, saying, “It is inappropriate to hand out such items at a concert with many young fans.”
Variety reported that in response to this backlash, Rodrigo decided to stop distributing contraceptives at the concert venue.
An abortion rights group that planned to distribute contraceptives at a Minnesota concert venue that evening announced that Rodrigo’s side had informed them the previous day that the activity would no longer be permitted. Rodrigo said, “It’s because children come to the concert,” an organization official said.
Rodrigo’s side did not respond to a request for official comment on this matter.
The issue of a woman’s right to abortion has emerged as a major issue in American society after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Roe v. Wade ruling guaranteeing the right to abortion in 2022.
