(Jinju = Larose.VIP) Reporter Park Jeong-heon = Gyeongsang National University Hospital also found its profits to have decreased due to the prolonged departure of residents.

Although it is not as bad as the ‘Big 5’ hospitals in Seoul, such as Yonsei Medical Center, which has entered an emergency management system due to financial difficulties, it is analyzed that the worsening management due to the medical gap is worsening.

According to Gyeongsang National University Hospital on the 16th, the total number of outpatients at the main hospital in Jinju, Gyeongnam was 2,371 from January 1 this year to February 18, before the resignation of residents began in earnest.

From February 19th, when residents began leaving the field, to the 11th, the number of outpatients totaled 2,351, a decrease of only 1% compared to before.

However, during the same period, the hospital bed utilization rate decreased by 21%, from 74% to 53%.

The number of surgeries also decreased by 13%, from an average of 37 to 32 per day.

Accordingly, the hospital’s daily profit decreased by 250 million won, from an average of 1.2 billion won before the resident withdrawal occurred to 950 million won after the occurrence.

Monthly revenue was 30.8 billion won in January and 25.6 billion won in February, and the hospital estimated that it would fall to 20 billion won in March.

At Gyeongsang National University Hospital, 121 residents resigned and 40 interns gave up their appointments, leaving 161 doctors vacant.

Currently, 159 doctors, including professors in charge of medical treatment, are filling the vacant positions of medical staff who have left the field.

An official at Gyeongsang National University Hospital said, “The situation at the branch in Changwon and other large hospitals in the province will not be much different. Although we have not entered an emergency management system like some hospitals, we believe that if this situation continues longer, profits will continue to decrease.” said.
