Manchester United sell Mason Greenwood to Atletico

The future of Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood will be one of the most controversial stories of the summer transfer window, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly deciding to sell him.

The 22-year-old shone in La Liga during his loan spell at Getafe. Greenwood initially enjoyed a comfortable stay at the Madrid-based club but now regularly completes the full 90 minutes and has scored 13 goals in 26 games.

The striker’s form attracted the attention of several top clubs. For example, Barcelona I am considering a move to Greenwood in the summer. But now interest seems to have waned.

Read more: Ratcliffe has agreed to become the first Man Utd signing in a £60m approved deal. His second and third contracts were also revealed.

According to reports in Spain, the Catalans have decided not to sign him because it could spark a backlash from fans and sponsors.

Real Madrid are also said to be interested in Greenwood, but rumors linking him with the striker appear to have died down.

However, Atletico Madrid remain interested in Greenwood and United have now reportedly set a price for him.

Atlético met with Manchester United last week in what was described as general transfer talks rather than negotiations over a specific player.

Manchester United put a new price tag on departing Greenwood

According to a report from Marca, the Red Devils are set to demand a fee of £43m for Greenwood this summer and have now decided to sell him.

There were rumors that Ratcliffe could decide to reintegrate Greenwood. Manchester United He is expected to join the team next season, but it looks like that won’t be the case, despite Erik Ten Hag being glad it happened.

Despite the controversy surrounding the winger, £43m is still a bargain for a player of his quality and potential.

Diego Simeone has now been tipped to take the opportunity to bring in Greenwood for that fee, and we could see him playing at the pinnacle of European football again next season.

Getafe would like to sign him permanently, but they do not have the financial wherewithal to beat Atletico in the competition.

It will be interesting to see if the low price tag tempts Barcelona or Real Madrid to make a move. But under current circumstances they are very reluctant to do so.
