The rollout of an update that will integrate OpenAI’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT with its entire lineup of audio devices has not yet begun. CMF, the company’s sub-brand focused on accessible devices, will also be integrated into all earphones. This update is being rolled out through the Nothing X app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. However, users can only use this feature if their device is paired with Nothing’s smartphone.

Nothing announced in a press release Tuesday that its entire audio lineup (including CMF devices) will have ChatGPT integration through the Nothing X app. The feature was first introduced on Nothing Ear and Ear A last April, but now users with these brands’ earphones can talk to ChatGPT without a mobile device. Specifically integrated devices include Ear 1, Ear Stick, Ear 2, CMF Buds, CMF Neckband Pro, and CMF Buds Pro.

To use ChatGPT on a Nothing or CMF audio device, users can activate the AI chatbot by pinching the earphone stem. Once enabled, users can ask questions verbally and the bot will respond in the same way. Users can ask a wide range of questions, from static general knowledge queries to story questions. Additionally, as OpenAI begins to release its latest flagship AI model, GPT-4o, users can also take advantage of its capabilities through integrations.

However, there are some caveats. Firstly, this feature requires users to have a Nothing smartphone. Second, you will also need the ChatGPT app and activate the voice feature by selecting one of the available voice options. Notably, the company first announced this integration last week.

Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear A launched in April and were the first to achieve this integration. These earphones feature 11mm dynamic drivers and support up to 45dB of active noise cancellation (ANC). Both earphones also support transparency mode. Additionally, these earphones include in-ear detection and support Google Fast pair and Microsoft Swift pair.
